Why is my gift to Adelphi meeting important?
Like your gift of time, energy, and expertise, your financial contribution is a valuable way of participating in the life of the meeting. Each year, the meeting determines a budget, to support activities that carry out our values. Your contribution helps to make that budget a reality.
How will my gift be used?
Our budget is frugal. About one quarter goes to keep the meetinghouse physical plant running; about one quarter goes to Baltimore Yearly Meeting; we contribute to other Quaker organizations and community organizations; and the remainder goes to the meeting’s own activities, including the Aid Fund and all of our committees. Budget Details.
Is my gift tax-deductible?
Yes, if you itemize. Here are some considerations in fitting your contribution in with your tax situation.
How can I make a gift?
You may place cash or a check (made out to Adelphi Friends Meeting) in the box in the foyer of the meetinghouse. Or give or mail your check to:

You can also authorize your bank to deduct an amount each month (the auto-donor program). You are encouraged to take part in the auto-donor program if you can, as it gives the meeting a much better sense throughout the year on how we are doing in meeting the budget. Instructions for the auto-donor program.
If you would like advice on how to include the meeting in your will, designate the meeting as a beneficiary of an IRA, life insurance policy, or retirement plan, set up a charitable gift annuity, or contribute appreciated property, please contact the Assistant Treasurer (details above).
May I make my gift anonymously?
Certainly! Actually, all gifts to the meeting are anonymous — our donors’ names are never published in any written source and donor information is kept confidential.
How do I decide how much to give?
This is a personal decision and people end up giving different amounts based on their financial position, other commitments, and other contributions. Here is some information that may help guide you: In recent years, roughly 100 Friends/Families have made a financial contribution in a given year. If you divide the amount of projected contributions in the 2016 budget ($141,650) by 100, that comes to about $1,417 per contributor (or $118 per month). Here are the statistics for the fiscal year ending Nov. 30, 2015:
One hundred eight (108) Friends and families supported the Meeting in 2015 with donations totalling $125,818 (not including donations-in-kind). The following table indicates the range of donations received:
